Z, A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler

Zelda's moment is now and then.
"Fowler's Zelda is all we would expect and more, for she's daring and unconventional yet profoundly and paradoxically rooted in Southern gentility... A lovely, sad, and compulsively readable book."
- Kirkus Reviews - Starred review

I am nearly to the end of this wonderful romp of a book and feel myself joining the Fitzgeralds on all their
soirees across Europe and the USA. The colorful cast of characters never disappoints and you feel pulled to reread F.Scott Fitzgerald's classics to encounter the words with new vision.
Join us next Monday April 1st at 7pm at the Wilton Library to hear Therese Fowler speak on her novel and this incredibly interesting couple and times.

Great New Reads!

Man, have I been gone for a while!

But while the winter was rolling along the new reads have been great.
One of my favorite writers Melanie Benjamin has just published "The Aviator's Wife"
a piece of historical fiction based
on the wife of Charle Lindbergh, Anne Morrow Lindbergh.
Really fascinating.
It will spark your interest to read more on this celebrity couple.

J.A.Jance
, the hugely popular mystery writer will be spending an evening with us at
The New Canaan Library on February 4th @ 7pm. Don't miss her!!
Her latest release "Deadly Stakes" is sure to keep her readers on the edge of their seats!

Author Events - Elm Street Books in October
Wow, do we have authors for you in October!!!!

October 2, 7:00pm, New Canaan Library

Lee Woodruff @ the New Canaan Library, 151 Main Street, New Canaan

Those We Love Most” is Lee Woodruff’s first novel, following her essay collection, “Perfectly Imperfect,” and a work of nonfiction called “In an Instant.” That powerful book, co-written with her husband, ABC news anchor Bob Woodruff, chronicled their family’s life in the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury Bob suffered while embedded with the U.S. military in Iraq. Her new novel explores some of the same themes: A sudden tragedy strikes one person, leading many others along a complex emotional path that winds in and around an entire family.

In her sharp-witted - and often laugh out loud funny - memoir, ALI IN WONDERLAND, actress, comedian and writer Ali Wentworth shares her real-life adventures through the looking glass: from a Washington, DC childhood as the daughter of a White House social secretary, to years in the casting trenches of Hollywood, and back to Washington as the wife of George Stephanopoulos. In between there was a rough stint at an all-girl boarding school, misspent college years, and a few decades of soured relationships - all priceless comic material from the woman who has made us laugh on Oprah, In Living Color, and Seinfeld and in the pages of Marie Claire and Vogue.

Day Two at the Book Expo America Convention

Another day of interesting conversations and amazing authors. Is'nt that what the book business is really all about? THE AUTHORS????
I had the pleasure of sharing lunch with three terrific voices.
Tom Wolf, Liza Klaussmann and Kevin Powers.
Each has a book coming out in the next few months.
Liza and Kevin are first time novelists who are receiving so much pre-press buzz the room was humming. I started Liza's book on the train home.
Tom Wolf is a classic. As I mentioned to the reporter from Publishers Weekly his legacy will outlive us all. Unfortunately his next title is embargoed so no early readers for us booksellers. BooHoo

Liza Klaussmann is sharing an evening with us in July at the New Canaan Library.
Save the date. July 26th
